Ich m\u00f6chte Kurz etwas \u00fcber das neuste Projekt von Mozilla informieren: Lorentz<\/a>. In der Firefox Betaversion 3.6.4 werden die Prozesse von Flash, Silverlight und \u00e4hnliches in den Prozess namens “plugin-container.exe” ausgegliedert.<\/div>\n

Laut Mozilla geht es dabei haupts\u00e4chlich darum Firefox stabiler zu machen, denn wenn nun ein YouTube Player abst\u00fcrzt, kann der Rest des Browsers ohne Probleme weiter genutzt werden. Die Idee ist nicht neu von Mozilla erfunden; Google Chrome gliedert Plugins schon lange in einen eigenen Prozess aus.

Wenn ein YouTube Player gecrasht ist sieht es dann so aus:<\/p>\n

Da Lorentz noch im Betastadium ist hat er noch einige Fehler. So crasht jedes Plugin automatisch, wenn man den Windows XP Computer aus dem Ruhezustand aufweckt.<\/p>\n

Eine sch\u00f6ne Nebenwirkung:
Bei einem einigermassen leistungsf\u00e4higen PC wird sowohl Webseitenrendenering wie auch das abspielen von Flash Objekten merklich schneller, da nicht mehr beides in einem Prozess durchgef\u00fchrt wird, sondern in zwei, wodurch beide die gleiche Berechnungsgewichtung bekommen. Beide Prozesse haben also dieselbe Priorit\u00e4t.<\/p>\n
